  • Designed and built by Rick Dobbertin, the HydroCar is an amphibious car that transforms its shape from “Land Mode” to “Water Mode” at the flip of a switch. In the land mode, the Dobbertin HydroCar raises its full-length articulating sponsons (or the pontoons), which function as the car’s fenders. While on the water, these sponsons are lowered by about eight inches to transform the car into a tunnel-hulled watercraft within no time. Rick Dobbertin sold his three earlier projects to finance the HydroCar.
